Self- efficacy and social support and their relation with psychological security among a sample of students at king Abdelaziz university in Jeddah [Article]
The study aimed to identify the level of self- efficiency, social support, and psychological security among a sample of King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, and to reveal the nature of the relationship between "self- efficiency and social support" with psychological security, and to reveal differences in levels of self-efficiency, social support and psychological security, which is due to the gender variable. The sample size was (275): (150) females, and (125) males, whose ages ranged from (18 to 33 years) with an arithmetic mean (25.8) and a standard deviation (3.7). The researcher used three scales: the Self-Efficiency Scale prepared by Ahmad Al-Shawa (2016), the Social Support Scale prepared by Asmaa Al-Sarsi and Amani Abdel Maqsoud (2001), and the Psychological Security Scale prepared by Zainab shouqair (2005). The findings showed a high prevalence of self-efficiency, and an average prevalence of both "social support" and "psychological security" among a sample of students at King Abdulaziz University, and the existence of a significant correlational relationship between self- efficiency and psychological security, and between social support and psychological security; also, it showed The lack of statistically significant differences in self efficiency is due to the gender variable, and the existence of statistically significant differences in both "social support" and "psychological security" due to the gender variable (male/female students) among a sample of students of King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah. The researcher reached a number of recommendations of which : the importance of providing a suitable university environment to achieve psychological security for male and female students, and to prepare training programs to teach students self-affirmation, and to support students' confidence in their abilities and potentials.
