هدفت هذه الدراسة الى التعرف على الكراسي البحثية في كندا وإمكانية الاستفادة منها في جامعة الجوف. تم التعريف بالإطار المفاهيمي للكراسي البحثية، وواقع الكراسي البحثية في كندا، بالإضافة إلى واقع الكراسي البحثية في جامعة الجوف، ومن خلال ذلك العرض تم حصر أوجه الشبه والاختلاف في الكراسي البحثية في كل من كندا وجامعة الجوف. وأخيراً تم اقتراح مجموعة إجراءات لتحسين إدارة الكراسي البحثية في جامعة الجوف في ضوء نتائج خبرة كندا. بينت النتائج أن هناك تشابه في وضع الأهداف و في مجالات الكراسي العلمية التي تغطي كافة مجالات العلوم والمعرفة وتختلف كندا عن جامعة الجوف في محور التنمية البشرية إذ لم تخصص كندا هدفاً يتعلق بدعم الكراسي لطلبة الدراسات العليا و في الجهة المقدمة لتمويل الكراسي؛ إذ تعتمد على التمويل الحكومي المقدم من الجهات المسؤولة عن الكراسي فيها، في حين تتعدد مصادر تمويل ودعم الكراسي في جامعة الجوف، كما تختلف جامعة الجوف عن كندا في أنواع الكراسي العلمية . وقدّمت الدراسة مجموعة من التوصيات أبرزها دعم الريادة والتميز البحثي في المملكة وفي الجامعات السعودية بشكلٍ خاص، وترتيب أولويات مجالات البحث لتحقيق القدرة التنافسية وفق المستجدات العالمية المعاصرة، وإيجاد نظام يسمح باستقطاب الكفاءات من الباحثين والأساتذة من جنسيات مختلفة، وتمكين جامعة الجوف من الانتقال من المحلية إلى العالمية. This study aimed to identify research chairs in Canada and the possibility of benefiting from at Al-Jouf University. The conceptual framework of research chairs was identified, the actual situation of research chairs in Canada was discussed, in addition to the reality of research chairs at Al-Jouf University were introduced. Through that the similarities and differences in research chairs in Canada and Al-Jouf University were identified. Finally, a set of measures were proposed to improve the management of research chairs at Al-Jouf University in the light of the results of Canada's experience. The results revealed that there are similarities in setting targets and scientific chairs fields that cover all fields of science and knowledge. Canada and Al-Jouf University are different in center of human development as Canada University didn't allocate a target related to provide chairs for postgraduate students and the chairs Financing Entity as it depends on government financing provided by chairs responsible agencies. On the other side, Al-Jouf University has more than one financing and providing chairs sources and it also has a different scientific chairs than those in Canada University. The study has presented a group of recommendations notably, Supporting leadership and research excellence in the kingdom and the Saudi universities particularly and research fields prioritize to achieve competitiveness according to contemporary global developments and creating a system that allows hiring competencies from researchers and professors of different nationalities, and enable al-Jouf University to move from local to be international.
