هدفت هذه الدراسة التعرف الى أسباب الاعتزال وأثره على المكانة الاجتماعية لدى اللاعبين المعتزلين في كرة القدم وألعاب القوى. واستخدمت الباحثة المنهج الوصفي نظرا لملائمته وطبيعة الدراسة تم بناء استبيانين: الاستبيان الاول يخصّ أسباب الاعتزال المكون من 27 فقرة؛ والاستبيان الثاني: وضع اللاعب بعد الاعتزال المكون من 41 فقرة موزعة على 4 محاور (الاجتماعي والمادي والصحي والنفسي) بعدد فقرات مختلفة. وتكونت عينة الدراسة من (113) لاعب معتزل في الأردن: (59) لاعب معتزل في كرة القدم و (54) لاعب معتزل في العاب القوى. واستخدمت الباحثة الأساليب الاحصائية التالية: المتوسط الحسابي والانحراف المعياري والاتساق الداخلي واختبار( ت) وقيمة الأثر. وقد كانت أهم أسباب الاعتزال : دخلي من ممارسة الرياضة لا يكفيني، وان الاعتزال أثر سلبا على المكانة الاجتماعية لدى اللاعبين المعتزلين في كرة القدم وألعاب القوى ،وكانت اكثر المحاور تأثرا المحور النفسي. This study assessed the causes of retirement and its impact on the social status among football and track and field retired players. The descriptive approach was employed. Two questionnaires were constructed: 1) the causes of retirement which is consisted of (27) items; 2) social situation of players after retirement which is consisted of (41) items, distributed over (4) fields (social, financial, health and psychological). The sample consisted of (113) retired players in Jordan (59) retired players in football and (54) retied players in track and field. The researcher used the following statistical techniques (arithmetic mean, standard deviation, internal consistency "Cronbach's Alpha and McDonald's for reliability, t-test and linear regression analysis. The results showed that the main cause for retiring is that my income from exercise is not enough for me and the retirement has a negative impact on the social status of players who have retired in football and track and field and the most influential axis is the psychological axis.
