تهدف الدراسة إلى تنمية مهارة الكتابة الوصفية لطلاب كلية اللغات والترجمة بجامعة مصر للعلوم والتكنولوجيا بواسطة تطبيق مدخل التعلم القائم على حل المشكلات. تكونت عينة الدراسة من (80) طالب، تم تقسيمهم بشكل عشوائي (40 طالب) مجموعة تجريبية و(40 طالب) مجموعة ضابطة. تكونت أدوات الدراسة من الآتي؛ اختبار لقياس أداء الطلاب في الكتابة الوصفية، واستبيان لقياس توجهات الطلاب وآرائهم تجاه التعلم القائم على حل المشكلات. استغرقت الدراسة ثلاثة أشهر، ثم تم تجميع البيانات ومعالجتها إحصائيا. أشارت النتائج إلى وجود فرق دال إحصائيا ببن متوسطي درجات طلاب المجموعة التجريبية وطلاب المجموعة الضابطة في التطبيق البعدي في اختبار الكتابة الوصفية لصالح المجموعة التجريبية. أوصت النتائج باستخدام طريقة التعلم القائم على حل المشكلات في تحسين التعبير الكتابي بشكل عام والوصفي بشكل خاص لدى الطلاب في المرحلة الجامعية. The study has two main objectives: to investigate the effectiveness of problem-based learning (PBL) approach on EFL students' descriptive writing ability, and to explore find out students' attitudes toward implementing PBL approach in class while learning how to write a descriptive paragraph in English. Eighty students from Misr University for Science and Technology (MUST) participate in this study. The participants were divided into experimental (40 students) and control group (40 students). The research instruments included pre/ post-writing tests and a questionnaire. The data were analyzed. The findings show that there was a significant difference between the mean scores of post-test of the experimental group and that of the control group. In addition, regarding the questionnaire results, students show positive attitudes toward learning in PBL approach as it motivated them and they became more passionate about the process of developing descriptive text writing skills.
