The purpose of the study is to investigate the impact of a training program based on the requirements of the 21st century for science teachers in Jeddah city in order to enhance their professional competencies towards teaching science. The researcher adopted the quasi-experimental approach. The study sample consisted of 30 science teachers employed in government and private schools under the supervision of the Jeddah Education Administration, (15 experimental and 15 control). They were purposefully selected from the study population. To achieve the objectives of the current study, the researcher developed a scale for evaluating the professional competencies of science teachers in the light of the requirements of the 21st century, the scale in its final form consisted of ten domains with (67) items. The researcher also developed a training program based on the requirements of the 21st century directed to science teachers. The training program consisted of (10) sessions presented to the study sample in five weeks, two sessions per week. The researcher verified the validity and reliability procedures of the two study tools. The findings of the co-variance test for the first hypothesis showed that; there is an impact and effectiveness of the training program on an improvement in the professional competencies of science teachers in the city of Jeddah due to the training program based on the requirements of the 21st century, which amounted to about (54%). Based on the findings of the study the researcher presented several recommendation, the most important are; using the outputs of the training program that was presented within the framework of this study in developing the competencies and requirements of the 21st century for science teachers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and providing science teachers with important guidance and the required developments in order to help them teach their students in science according to contemporary requirements.
