This study aimed at identifying the problems of teaching literary texts in the English language to students of second secondary grade in the directorate of education of Rusaifa district from teachers' point of view. The researcher used the analytical descriptive approach. The study sample was considered to be the entire study population. It consisted of all male and female teachers in all governmental secondary schools in Rusaifa directorate of education for the second semester of the scholastic year 2022-2023 who were (67) male and female teachers from (29) schools. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher prepared the study scale consisting of (54) items distributed over four main dimensions. Acceptable validity and reliability indicators were found to justify its use for the purpose of the study. The study results showed that the total average of the problems of teaching literary texts in the English language to students of second secondary grade in the directorate of education of Rusaifa district was (3.33) with a moderate degree, while the arithmetic averages for the subdimensions ranged between (3.00 and 4.01), the dimension of student –related problems came in the first rank with the highest arithmetic mean (4.01) with a high degree, followed by the dimension of the educational environment–related problems with an arithmetic mean (3.48) with a moderate degree, then the dimension of the problems related to academic content in (Action Pack 12) with an arithmetic mean (3.22) with a moderate degree, the dimension of teacher-related problems came in the last rank with the lowest arithmetic mean (3.00) and also with a moderate degree. The results revealed that there were no statistically significant differences in all dimensions and total score of the scale of problems of teaching literary texts in the English language to students of second secondary grade in Rusaifa directorate of education from the teachers’ point of view due to gender, academic qualification, or years of experience. In the light of the study results, the researcher recommended conducting further studies about the problems of teaching literary texts in the English language from the point of view of educational supervisors and students.
