The study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of an educational program based on social cognitive theory in developing social intelligence in Islamic education among ninth grade students in the State of Kuwait, for that a descriptive approach and the experimental approach with a quasi-experimental design were used, the study members consisted of two groups: an experimental group that studied according to an educational program based on social cognitive theory, and a control group that studied according to the usual method. The study participants were (60) students, distributed as (30) students for the experimental group, and (30) students for the control group. In order to achieve the objectives of the study a measure of social intelligence was prepared. The results of the study showed a high level of social intelligence among students in the areas of social control, social tolerance, emotional participation and empathy with others. The results also showed that there was a statistically significant difference between the average scores of the experimental and control groups, in favor of the educational program based on social cognitive theory in the development of social intelligence, the study recommends generalizing the employment of the educational program based on social cognitive theory in Islamic education.
