The study aimed to identify the degree of academic freedom practice by faculty members in Jordanian public universities from their point of view. The study used the descriptive approach, and to achieve the objectives of the study, a questionnaire was prepared consisting of three areas: academic freedom in scientific research, and in teaching, and community service. The study sample consisted of (220) faculty members. The degree of practicing the total academic freedom on the areas of the study tool came with a medium degree of practice. The estimates of the faculty members for the degree of their exercise of academic freedom were medium in the fields of scientific research and community service, while they were high in the field of teaching, and there were statistically significant differences in the estimates of the members of the study of the degree of practicing academic freedom due to the gender variable in favor of males. There are no differences in the degree of academic freedom. It is attributed to the variables of college type and academic rank. The study recommended the necessity of enhancing and developing the academic freedom of faculty members, especially in the fields of scientific research and community service. (Published abstract)
