بما أن الإهتمام بالبيئة أصبح أمرا حتميا في العصر الحالى وذلك نظرا لم يمر به العالم من مشكلات ذات تأثير على النظام البيئى والحياة على كوكب الأرض، من زيادة الإحتباس الحراري، وزيادة نسبة ثاني أكسيد الكربون، بالإضافة إلى الأزمات ذات الصلة بالمياه، والطاقة، والغذاء، والوقود فقد إزداد الوضع أكثر تعقيدا بمشكلة ظاهرة تغير المناخ، ومع هذا كله زيادة عدد السكان. لذلك بدأت كثير من الدول تعيد النظر في النظم الإقتصادية التقليدية والتي تستنزف الموارد الطبيعية دون الأخذ في الإعتبار حقوق الأجيال القادمة في الإنتفاع بهذه الموارد، فقد توجهت الدول إلى الإهتمام بالإستثمارات الصديقة للبيئة، بإعتبارها السبيل والحل الأمثل، في الحفاظ على الموارد الطبيعية. فظهر الاهتمام بالاقتصاد الأخضر بإعتباره نشاطا اقتصاديا صديقا للبيئة وأحد سبل تحقيق التنمية المستدامة، كما أكدت العديد من الدراسات ضرورة دمجه في العملية التعليمية وأن يصبح التعليم الجامعي يتصف بالاستدامة من خلال استدامة المباني، والحرم الأخضر والممارسات الخضراء الصديقة للبيئة ومن خلال الجامعات الخضراء وتحقيق الممارسات بها، وبناء على التصنيفات العالمية التي ظهرت لتعمل على زيادة التنافسية بين الجامعات في تحقيق الممارسات الخضراء التي تجعل الجامعات تحتل مكانة متميزة ومرتفعة في التصنيف العالمي. فقد يهدف البحث إلى وضع نموذج مقترح لتطوير الجامعات في ضوء التصنيف العالمي للجامعات الخضراء وتحقيق ممارسات أكثر استدامة، فقد استخدمت الباحثة المنهج الوصفي التحليلي في تحليل مفهوم الجامعة الخضراء وأهميتها، ومكوناتها، وأهدافها، وفلسفتها، ومتطلبات تحقيقها، وتوضح التصنيف العالمي للجامعات الخضراء. وختاما توصل البحث إلى وضع تصور مقترح لتطوير الجامعات في ضوء التصنيف العالمي. Since caring for the environment has become imperative in the current era, given that the world has not experienced problems that affect the ecosystem and life on the planet, from the increase in global warming and the increase in carbon dioxide, in addition to crises related to water, energy, food, and fuel. The situation has become more complicated by the problem of climate change, and with all this the population increase. Therefore, many countries began to reconsider the traditional economic systems that deplete natural resources without taking into account the rights of future generations to benefit from these resources. Countries have tended to pay attention to environmentally friendly investments, as the best way and solution in preserving natural resources. There was interest in the green economy as an economic activity that is environmentally friendly and one of the ways to achieve sustainable development. Many studies have confirmed the need to integrate it into the educational process and for university education to become sustainable through the sustainability of buildings, green campuses and environmentally friendly green practices. On the international rankings that have emerged to increase competitiveness among universities in achieving green practices that make universities occupy a distinguished and elevated position in the global rankings. The research aims to develop a proposed model for the development of universities in the light of the international classification of green universities and to achieve more sustainable practices. The research reached a proposed vision for the development of universities in the light of the international classification. (Published abstract)
