نظراً لكثرة الاستخدامات غیر التقلیدیة للمعلومات فإن هذه الدراسة تسعى إلى استجلاء كنه الحرب المعلوماتیة من حیث ماهیتها وتطورها التاریخي ومستویاتها وأشكالها وأهدافها ومكوناتها وأسلحتها..، وتناول ظاهرة الویكیلیكس كأحد تجلیات الحرب المعلوماتیة من حیث نشأة الویكیلیكس وأهدافها وتمویلها ووضعها القانوني والعاملین بها وسیاسة العمل بها، وموقعها ووثائقها..، وكیفیة تناول الصحافة المصریة لتسریبات الویكیلیكس من خلال اختیار صحیفتین حكومیتین وصحیفتین مستقلتین. وقد اعتمدت الدراسة على أكثر من منهج مثل المنهج التاریخي، ومنهج المسح المیداني، ومنهج دراسة الحالة. Due to the non-conventional uses of information, this study aims to exploring the nature of the information warfare in terms of what it is and its historical development, levels, forms, objectives, components and weapons .., addressing the phenomenon of WikiLeaks as one of the manifestations of information warfare in terms of the emergence of WikiLeaks and its aims, funding, legal status, its staff and work policy, the website and documents .., and how the Egyptian press deals with WikiLeaks through the selection of two governmental newspapers and two independent newspapers , the study was based on more than one method, such as the historical method, the Field survey method, and the case study method.
