هدف البحث إلى الكشف عن العلاقة بين السمات الشخصية للطالب الجامعي ومستوى الطموح لدى طلبة جامعة الطائف. حيث قام الباحث باستخدام المنهج الوصفي المسحي. واستخدم الباحث مقياس سمات الطالب الجامعي (إعداد هلالي، بدران، والذهبي، 2012)، ومقياس مستوى الطموح (إعداد الرفاعي، 2017). تكونت عينة البحث (404) طالبا وطالبة (متوسط العمر = 20.6 سنة، انحراف معياري 3.25) في مرحلة البكالوريوس تم اختيارهم بطريقة عشوائية. كشفت نتائج البحث وجود علاقة ارتباطية قوية موجبة دالة إحصائيا بين السمات الشخصية للطالب الجامعي (التسامح، الاجتماعية، القيادية الرضا، تقدير الذات، وضبط النفس) والدرجة الكلية لمستوى الطموح وأبعاده (الطموح نحو المثابرة في الدراسة، الطموح نحو التفوق الدراسي، الطموح نحو تحمل المسؤولية، والطموح نحو التعليم الجامعي). أظهرت النتائج وجود فروق دالة إحصائيا في سمتي التسامح، وتقدير الذات لصالح الذكور، وأظهرت النتائج وجود فروق دالة إحصائيا في الطموح نحو التعليم الجامعي لصالح الذكور أيضا. بينما أظهرت عدم وجود فروق دالة إحصائيا في سمات الطالب الجامعي (التسامح، الاجتماعية، القيادية، الرضا، تقدير الذات، وضبط النفس) تبعا للاختلاف في المتغيرات الشخصية والأكاديمية (النوع، العمر، المستوى، مكان السكن، المعدل التراكمي والتخصص). كما كشفت النتائج عدم وجود فروق دالة إحصائيا في مستوى الطموح وأبعاده (الطموح نحو المثابرة في الدراسة، الطموح نحو التفوق الدراسي، الطموح نحو تحمل المسؤولية والطموح نحو التعليم الجامعي)، تبعا للاختلاف في متغيرات (النوع، المستوى، مكان السكن العمر، والتخصص، المعدل التراكمي). وفي ضوء ما توصل إليه البحث من نتائج أوصى الباحث بضرورة إعداد البرامج والدورات التدريبية لتنمية مستوى الطموح بكافة أبعاده لدى طلبة الجامعة، وإعداد البرامج التوعوية للتخفيف من تأثير بعض الأفكار العقلية والسمات الشخصية السلبية على مستوى الطموح لدى الطلبة الجامعيين. The current study aimed to reveal the relationship between student's personality traits and the level of aspiration among students of the University of Taif. The researcher used the descriptive survey method. Measures were the scale of university student traits prepared by Hilali, Badran, and Al-Dhahabi (2012), and the level of ambition scale prepared by Al-Rifai (2017). The sample of the study consisted of 404 undergraduate students (average age 20.6 years, SD=3.25) both males and females, who were randomly selected. The results revealed a strong positive correlation statistically significant between student's personality traits and their level of aspiration. The results showed that there were statistically significant differences in the traits of tolerance and self-esteem in favor of males, and the results showed that there were statistically significant differences in the ambition towards university education in favor of males as well. While the results showed that there were no statistically significant differences in student's personality traits regarding to their age, academic level, GPA, major, or place of residence. The results also revealed that there were no statistically significant differences in the level of aspiration among the respondents according to age, academic level, GPA, major, or place of residence. In light of the results of the study, the researcher recommended the necessity of preparing programs and training courses to develop the level of aspiration in all its dimensions among university students, and preparing awareness programs to mitigate the impact of some negative mental thoughts and negative personality traits on the level of aspiration among university students.
