هدفت الدراسة الكشف عن واقع استخدام مجموعات الواتس آب في التعليم لدى طالبات المرحلة الثانوية في منطقة جازان في المملكة العربية السعودية خلال جائحة كورونا. تكونت عينة الدراسة من (391) طالبة من طالبات المرحلة الثانوية بمنطقة جازان وأجريت الدراسة في الفصل الدراسي الثاني للعام 2020. اعتمدت الدراسة المنهج المسحي الوصفي، وتم جمع البيانات عن طريق مقياس مكون من (30) عبارة موزعة على ثلاثة محاور، تضمنت واقع الاستخدام والاتجاهات والتحديات. أظهرت نتائج الدراسة استخدامات متعددة لمجموعات الواتس آب في التعليم، شملت التواصل والتعاون والنقاشات، ونشر الإعلانات والإشعارات والمصادر التعليمية. كما أظهرت الدراسة اتجاهات إيجابية نحو استخدام مجموعات الواتس آب ودوره في تعزيز فهم المحتوى، وإبداء الرأي والنقاشات. وكان ضعف شبكة الإنترنت كأحد أبرز التحديات. وأوصت الدراسة بضرورة استخدام تطبيق الواتس آب كمنصة إلكترونية في دعم التعليم التقليدي وتشجيع المعلمين والهيئة الإدارية والإرشادية على توظيف التطبيق في التعليم العام. WhatsApp is a popular tool for social communication and during Covid-19, It was utilized for educational purposes. This study aimed to investigate the use of WhatsApp groups in education among high school students in Jazan province in Saudi Arabia during COVID-19 pandemic. Descriptive approach was used through a questionnaire consisted of 30 items cover the reality of use, attitudes and challenges. The sample of the study consisted of (391) female high school students in the second semester of 2020. The results showed various uses of WhatsApp groups for educational purposes, including communication and collaboration, discussions, publishing announcements, notices and educational resources. The study also revealed positive attitudes towards the use of WhatsApp groups in education and its role in enhancing understanding of content, expressing opinions and fostering discussions. Problems with Internet connection emerged as one of the most challenges that students encounter. The study recommended that WhatsApp should be integrated as an electronic platform to support traditional education, and teachers, administrators and students' advisors need to employ the application in public education.
