The level of awareness of in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia of the elements of digital citizenship and their practice of it in the light of some variables [Article]
The research reveals the awareness level of female social studies teachers in KSA of the digital citizenship elements, and to know the extent to which they practice it from their opinion, viewing some variables (stage, training courses and workshops). Descriptive survey method was used, and the research sample contains (666) female teachers, randomly selected from among the female social studies teachers in KSA. Achieving the research objectives, the researcher built a scale distributed on three axes: respect, protection, and education. It contains two parts: first part includes personal data, and second part includes two areas; first field is “awareness level of female social studies teachers in KSA of digital citizenship elements”. Second field is “the extent to which social studies teachers in KSA practice digital citizenship elements from their opinion”. Research results showed that awareness level of social studies teachers for all digital citizenship elements is a medium level, with a general average of (2.07). The extent to which social studies teachers practice most of the digital citizenship elements from their opinion is a medium range, with an average of (2.20). Excepting the two digital access components, and digital communication, practice of social studies teachers for them was high. Results showed that there were statistically significant differences regarding significance level (α≤0.05) between average scores of social studies female teachers in the awareness scale of digital citizenship elements, and in all its axes and fields (awareness, and practice) according to the variable of training courses and workshops, without differences statistically significant at significance level (α≤0.05) among average scores of social studies parameters in awareness scale of the digital citizenship elements, and in all its axes and fields (awareness, and practice) according to the educational stage variable. The researcher made recommendations: attention to developing awareness concerning digital citizenship among social studies teachers, holding training courses for this, providing digital access in educational institutions.
