Using an ESP program based on Dictogloss strategy for developing tourism and hotels students’ listening skills

The present research aimed at investigating the effect of using an ESP program based on Dictogloss strategy for developing Tourism and Hotels students’ listening skills. Participants of the research were (N=30) of Tourism and Hotel students enrolled for the third year in the faculty of Tourism and Hotels, South Valley University, Luxor. The research used the one group quasi-experimental design and the data required were collected through a needs analysis questionnaire, listening checklist and a pre-post test of listening skills to evaluate the effect of using an ESP program based on Dictogloss strategy on tourism and Hotels students’ listening skills. The statistical devices used for that research were t-test, alfa Cronbach formula, person Correlation and Eta Squared. Results revealed that Tourism and Hotels students achieved a significant development in listening skills. Thus, using Dictogloss strategy proved to be effective to develop listening skills.
