The purpose of the present research is to identify the concept of e-learning, the types of e-learning, its characteristics, its general principles, its importance and its forms. To this end, a descriptive approach based on analysis, interpretation, description of certain phenomena, events or objects has been used and facts, information and observations have been collected. The current research has reached a series of conclusions: E-learning has many advantages, such as shortening time and reducing the effort in teaching, making learning more interesting and enjoyable, teaching a large number of students without the constraints of time and space. In the light of the research results, the researcher recommended a set of recommendations: Training courses for workers, teachers and learners on e-learning programs and updated on the use of educational technologies.
