يهدف هذا البحث إلى الكشف عن العلاقة المحتملة بين التحصيل في الرياضيات والأداء على مقياس مهارات التفكير لدى عينة من تلامذة الصف السادس الأساسي (بلغ عدد أفرادها 241 تلميذاً وتلميذة من مدارس مدينة دمشق الرسمية)، مع الإشارة إلى أن البحث يستند إلى فرضية تقول بوجود كثير من الأسباب وراء تدني التحصيل في مادة الرياضيات وهي في مجملها ذات أثر سلبي في أداء التلاميذ على مقياس مهارات التفكير، كما أن البحث حاول الإجابة عن السؤال التالي: هل هناك فروق بين الذكور والإناث في مستوى التحصيل في مادة الرياضيات وفي مستوى الأداء على مهارات التفكير ؟ وبعد اختبار الفرضية وما انبثق عنها من فرضيات فرعية وفي محاولة للإجابة عن السؤال تم التوصل إلى النتائج التالية: 1- وجود علاقة ارتباط إيجابية بين التحصيل في مادة الرياضيات والأداء على مقياس مهارات التفكير.-2 وجود أثر لمتغير الجنس (ذكور، إناث) في مستوى التحصيل في مادة الرياضيات وفي مستوى الأداء الكلي على مقياس مهارات التفكير. 3- وجود أثر لمستوى التحصيل في مادة الرياضيات (مرتفع، وسط، ضعيف) ومستوى الأداء على مقياس مهارات التفكير. This research aims at finding out the possible relationship between achievement in mathematics and performance in thinking skills. The sample of the study consisted of 241 sixth grade students in Basic Education, males and females, from different official schools in Damascus. The research postulated that there are many reasons behind the low achievement of students in mathematics. These reasons have an overall negative effect on the performance of students in thinking skills. The research also tried to answer the following question: Are there any gender-based differences in the level of achievement in mathematics and in thinking skills. The results show the following: there is a positive correlation between achievement in mathematics and in performance in thinking skills; the gender factor also had an effect on the achievement in mathematics and on thinking skills; the level of achievement in mathematics (low, medium, and high) has an effect on thinking skills performance.
