هدفت الدراسة تعرف دور القيادة المدرسية بالمدارس الثانوية العامة في تحسين الفاعلية المدرسية، وذلك من خلال تعرف هذه الفاعلية في ضوء الأدبيات المعاصرة، وتحديد درجة توافر أبعادها بالمدارس الثانوية العامة بمصر، والكشف عن الفروق بين استجابات عينة الدراسة تبعًا لمتغيرات (الدرجة الوظيفية - النوع - اعتماد المدرسة - المحافظة). واستخدمت الدراسة المنهج الوصفي، وتم تطبيق استبانة على عينة ممثلة من معلمي المدارس الثانوية العامة بمحافظات (القاهرة - الشرقية - أسيوط) بلغ عددهم (1138) معلمًا ومعلمة، وأظهرت النتائج أن دور القيادة المدرسية بالمدارس الثانوية العامة في تحسين الفاعلية المدرسية يقع في فئة (متوسطة) من حيث درجة التوافر بمتوسط موزون (1,71)، حيث جاء بُعد القيادة الفاعلة في المرتبة الأولى من حيث درجة التوافر بمتوسط موزون (1,72)، يليه بُعد المناخ المدرسي في المرتبة الثانية من حيث درجة التوافر بمتوسط موزون (1,70). وأن درجة توافر إجمالي المعوقات التي تحد من دور القيادات المدرسية تقع في فئة كبيرة بمتوسط موزون (2,40)،  كما قدمت الدراسة تصورًا مقترحًا لتطوير دور القيادات في تحسين الفاعلية المدرسية. The current study aimed at identifying the general secondary schools’ leaders' role in improving school effectiveness through investigating such effectiveness in the light of the contemporary literature, as well as determining the availability degree of its dimensions in the secondary schools and revealing the differences between the study sample responses according to the variables of job, gender, school accreditation and governorate. The study made use of the descriptive method and a questionnaire was administered to a representative sample of the general secondary school teachers in the governorates of Cairo, Sharkia, Assiut (totaling 1138). The results of the research showed that the availability degree of the role of school leaders in improving school effectiveness is (medium) with a weighted average of (1.71). The effective leadership dimension was the first in terms of availability with a weighted mean of (1.72), followed by the school climate dimension in the second place in terms of the availability with a weighted mean of (1.70). The availability degree of the total obstacles that limit the role of school leaders is large category with a weighted mean of (2.40). The study presented a suggested proposal to develop the leaders' roles in improving school effectiveness. (Published abstract)
