The study aimed to build a proposed teaching program based on reception theory and its effectiveness in developing creative reading skills and self-efficiency in reading among first-grade intermediate students, and to achieve this objective, the program was built and applied to a sample of (28) students of the first intermediate grade, and the sample was divided into two groups. The first group was experimental, taught using the proposed teaching program, and the second group was a control group that was taught in the usual method of teaching. The study used the semi-experimental approach, and study tools were pre and post-test inappropriate creative reading skills, and a measure of self-proficiency in reading to identify the effectiveness of the proposed program. After completing the implementation of the study, the data were processed statistically. The results showed a list of creative reading skills suitable for students of the first intermediate grade, numbering (18) skills distributed into four basic skills (originality, flexibility, fluency, details), and a list that included four dimensions of self-proficiency in reading ( the sense of self during reading, the tendency towards reading, the sense of reading difficulty, interaction with the read text) included (26) sub-indicators. The results showed statistically significant differences between the arithmetic averages of students ’scores in the post-test in favor of the experimental group in creative reading skills and the measure of self-efficacy in reading. The study recommended using the program to develop these skills and raise self-efficacy in teaching Arabic. (Published abstract)
