The aim of the current research is to identify the level of practice of metacognitive skills by a geographic teacher from the viewpoint of their students. To achieve the goal of the research, the descriptive approach was used (surveying). The research community included all students of the department of geography, College of Basic Education - University of Babylon for the academic year (2018-2019). And evaluation on the aforementioned fields, the researchers investigated the psychometric properties of the scale of honesty and consistency. The final form of the questionnaire consisted of (30) distributed paragraphs. The two researchers used a set of appropriate statistical methods using (SPSS20) and the excel program. The result is that geography teachers employ these skills abundantly in their teaching because the vocabulary of geographic subjects contains many of them and the centenary weights prove that. The researchers recommended according to the results of the study that they reached with: 1) adopting metacognition skills identified in this study and benefiting from them in a teaching evaluation of the geography department in the college. 2) Introducing geography teachers to how to use metacognitive skills through preparing training courses by gentlemen who are specialized in teaching methods that serve as a reliable guide when teaching. They also suggested conducting the following studies: 1) conducting studies similar to the current study on other academic departments. 2) A study similar to the current study to identify other variables such as creative thinking, quick thinking, positive thinking, and others.
