The study aimed at determining the readiness of the common first-year deanship in the King Saud University for strategic planning by measuring the clarity of the concepts of strategic planning and the level of availability of indicators of readiness for strategic planning from the point of view of the leadership and members of the deanship. Are there statistically significant differences in the average of their opinions according to the variables of the study (gender, current work, academic qualification, experience, and training courses in strategic planning)? The study reached the level of readiness for the common first-year deanship for strategic planning, with an average of (2.88) and a “medium" grade and (72.5%). It was found that the clarity of the concepts of strategic planning was average (3.06), "high" and (76%). The availability of readiness indicators for strategic planning was (2.66) and "medium" and (66.5%). And that there are differences of statistical significance according to the variables; for the benefit of males, and the qualification of the doctorate, and the experience of more than three years, and training courses more than three sessions, while there are no differences of statistical significance of the current work variable. The study recommended focusing on clarifying the scientific concepts of strategic planning in a deeper manner and reorganizing the processes to the stage of preparation for strategic planning in the deanship in a systematic scientific way. The study also recommended the re-application of the study at the university level and its affiliated colleges, and attention to the strategic planning processes at all stages, especially in the planning stage of strategic planning, in line with the future directions of King Saud University as a non-profit university.
