هدف هذا البحث إلى تحديد مهارات القرن الحادي والعشرين اللازم توافرها في أداء المعلمين باعتبار أن النجاح في مجتمع القرن الحادي والعشرين يحتاج من الأفراد مهارات معقدة لمواجهة المتطلبات الجديدة للقرن الحالي، بالإضافة إلى تحديد الاحتياجات التدريبية للمعلم في ضوء مهارات القرن الحادي والعشرين. ولذلك ناقش هذا البحث التغييرات التي يجب حدوثها في برامج إعداد المعلمين حتى يتسنى إعداد معّلمين محترفين يمكنهم إعداد طلابهم لمواجهة المستقبل. ثم تقديم توصيات مناسبة لتنمية المعلمين مهنياً في ضوء مهارات القرن الحادي والعشرين. وخلص هذا البحث إلى أنه يجب على عمليتي التعليم والتعلم أن يتمان في بيئة القرن الحادي والعشرين التي تحتم تعليم المواد الدراسية من خلال أمثلة من العالم الواقعي وليس من بيئة مجرًدة كما هو حاصل في معظم المدارس والجامعات حاليا. إضافة إلى ذلك أهمية استخدام وسائل دقيقة وموثقة لتقييم إتقان المتعلمين لهذه المهارات. وأخيراً يأمل الباحث بأن تصل المهارات المحددة فيه لسدً الفجوة بين المدرسة وعالم العمل والحياة اليومية. This research aims to determine the twenty first century skills that should be presented in the performance of education teacher, as success in the twenty first century society requires individuals to have complex skills to meet the new requirements of the current century. Besides, it aims to define the roles required by the education teacher in the light of the twenty first century skills. The world of the twenty first century imposes on a change in the teacher and the way of his preparation because the teacher plays a central role in the success of the learning process. The current paper discusses the required changes that must be inserted in the programs of teacher preparation to prepare professional teachers in the field of education who can guide their students to face the challenges of the future. Recommendations about the professional development of education teachers in the light of the twenty first century skills are provided. The research concluded that the schooling process must be in line with the speed changes in the twenty-first century environment which impose on teaching subjects through real examples rather than abstract ones as the case in most schools and universities today, and the importance of using accurate and documented methods to assess the learners' mastery of these skills. Finally, the researcher wishes the specified skills determined to contribute to bridge the gap between school, the world of work and daily life. (Published abstract)
