The research aims at fathoming the impact of adopting strategy of examination in acquiring and retaining information of the second stage intermediate students in mathematics. The research sample covers (40) female students from al-Wafaa Secondary School in state Directorate of Education/ Baghdad/ Rusafa2. They were randomly selected. The 40 students are equally divided into two groups :A and B. Group A represents the empirical group which has been taught by using the strategy of Examining ,whereas group B represents the controlling group which has been taught by using the common way of teaching . The researcher used the empirical design (empirical group and controlling group) with partial control. The two groups were equally divided according to age and the first term scores. The researcher set the teaching plans and the final test which was featured by credibility and veracity. Coefficients of difficult and easiness, perception of the test details were calculated The teacher of mathematics handled teaching the students while the researcher handled the test. The same test was given to the students after two weeks to measure the students' ability to retain the mathematical information (T) Test was adopted to compare the results The study concludes the following : There is a difference of statistical signification, at a signification level of (0.05) between the average scores of acquiring and retaining information of the students under the empirical group and the average score of acquiring information of students under the controlling group. The difference is in favor of the empirical group. In the light of the results, there is an apparent positive impact of adopting the strategy of examination in acquiring and retaining information in mathematics of the second grade intermediate level of study The researcher also set a number of suggestions and recommendations for further studies.
