The current research aims to identify: 1) the level of environmental awareness among students of the University of Sulaymaniyah. 2) Statistical differences in the level of environmental awareness with gender variables, specialization, school stage, and social background. The sample consisted of (352) male and female students from the scientific departments in (4) colleges from the University of Sulaymaniyah. The researcher built a tool to achieve the desired results. The validity of the research tool has been investigated by extracting the truth and its stability. The virtual honesty coefficient (90%) of the instruments has been verified. Stability was obtained by re-testing and the correlation coefficient between the two applications was (0.88). The analytical descriptive approach was used, and also used Alpha Cronbach, Pearson correlation coefficient, t-test, and the variance analysis as statistical means for analyzing research data. The research reached a number of results, including: 1) students have a good knowledge of the environment, and their level exceeds the average in environmental awareness. 2) There are no statistically significant differences according to the gender in the level of environmental awareness. 3) There are no statistically significant differences according to the specialization in the level of environmental awareness. 4) There are differences of statistical significance according to the stage in the level of environmental awareness for the benefit of students in the first stage. 5) There are no statistically significant differences according to the residence in the level of environmental awareness. In the light of the results of the research, it was recommended to introduce the subject of environmental education to the curriculum of all stages of study, in accordance with the specificity of the age levels. A comprehensive national research was proposed to measure the level of environmental awareness for all segments of society. (Published Abstract)
