The study aimed at identifying the learning skills differences among university students in relation to cognition, self-efficacy and gender. The sample of the study consisted of (198) students, males and females and was chosen randomly from the Faculty of Education, Faculty of Medical Laboratories at the Sudan University of Science and Technology, and Faculty of Science at the University of Khartoum during the first term of 2015/2016. The researcher used three scales namely, learning skills scale, measure of the need of cognition prepared by Cacioppo, et al(1996), which was translated into Arabic by Gradat and Alali (2010) in addition to the measure of the self-efficacy. The study finding have shown that there are some statistical significant differences in the learning skills and in its dimensions except fortakingnotes skill among students with high, medium and low cognition, in favor of those of highest need for cognition and there were some significant statistical differences in the level of learning skills (medium, and low) in favor of the medium need for cognition. There were statistical significant differences in the learning skills as a hole, between self-efficacy, high, medium, and low, in favor of the highest self-efficacy. There were statistical significant differences in the learning skills levels except in thetakingnotes, summarizing, studying and research writing skills between the medium and the low self-efficacy in favor of the medium. There were some statistical significant differences in the organizing and studying skills between the male and female students in favor of the female students. (Published Abstract)
