هدفت الدراسة الحالية التعرف إلى أسباب العنف الجامعي لدى طلبة جامعة العلوم والتكنولوجيا الأردنية. استخدمت الدراسة المنهج الوصفي التحليلي، حيث قام الباحثون بتطوير مقياس أسباب العنف المكون من 52 فقرة. تكونت عينة الدراسة من 2000 طالب وطالبة. أشارت نتائج الدراسة إلى أن أكثر العوامل المسببة للعنف، هي العوامل الأسرية تليها العوامل التربوية، ثم الإعلامية، ثم النفسية. وأظهرت النتائج كذلك وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية في متوسطات العنف تعزى لمتغير الجنس لصالح الذكور، وكذلك وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية في العوامل المسببة للعنف تبعاً لمتغير مكان الإقامة لصالح سكان البادية. كما بينت الدراسة وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية في العوامل المسببة للعنف تبعاً لمتغير مستوى الدخل لصالح متدني الدخل. وأشارت النتائج أيضاً إلى أن أكثر الطلبة عنفاً هم طلبة السنة الرابعة تليها الثالثة فالثانية، وأقل طلبة السنة الأولى وطلبة السنة الخامسة. ولم تظهر النتائج وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية تعزى لمتغير التقدير الأكاديمي ومتغير الكلية. (الملخص المنشور)

The present study aimed to investigate the causes of violence, of students at the Jordan University of Science and Technology; the study has used the descriptive analytical method, where the researchers developed a scale for causes of violence, which are composed of 52 items. The sample consisted of 2000 male and female students. The results indicated that the most violence- causing factors are family factors, followed by educational factors, media factors, and psychological factors. The result showed a statistically significant difference in the rates of violence attributed to sex and was in favor of males, as well as the presence of statistically significant differences in the causes of violence depending on the variable of place of residence and was in favor of the residence of the desert. The study also demonstrated the presence of significant differences in the factors causing the violence variable depending on the level of income and was in favor of low income. The results indicated that the most violent students are fourth year students, followed by the third, second and the least were first- year students and students of the fifth year. Results did not show the presence of statistically significant differences attributed to the academic achievement and variable of college. (Published abstract)
