هدفت الدّراسة إلى تعرف أثر استخدام الرسائل النصّية على مهارة الإملاء لدى عينة من طالبات جامعة المجمعة. تكونت عينة الدّراسة من 22 طالبة من طالبات جامعة المجمعة تم اختيارهنّ من التخصصات المختلفة. ولتحقيق أهداف الدِّراسة، تم تحليل محتوى الرسائل النصّية للطالبات المشاركات بغرض الكشف عن الأخطاء الإملائية. بينت نتائج الدّراسة وجود أثر سلبي لاستخدام الرسائل النصّية عن طريق الهواتف النقالة على مهارة الإملاء في اللغة العربية. وأظهرت النتائج وجود فروق تعزى لمتغير التخصص في أثر استخدام الرسائل النصّية على مهارة الإملاء ولصالح طالبات التخصصات العلمية مقارنة بالتخصصات الأدبية. وأظهرت النتائج وجود فروق تعزى لمتغير السنة الدّراسية في أثر استخدام الرسائل النصّية على مهارة الإملاء في اللغة العربية ولصالح طالبات السنة الدِّراسية الأولى مقارنة مع السنوات الأخرى. وفي ضوء النتائج، تم تقديم بعض التوصيات. The study aimed at investigating the effect of mobile phones text messaging on Arabic spelling among a sample of Al Mujama University female students. The sample of the study consisted of 22 female university students selected from the different specializations for the study population. To achieve the aim of the study, the content of some mobile based text messages were analyzed using the appropriate statistical procedures (frequencies, percentages.. etc.). Results of the study indicated a negative effect for using mobile text messaging on Arabic spelling among university students. Results of the study indicated differences in the effect for using mobile text messaging on Arabic spelling among university students due to specialization, in favor of scientific specialization students compared to humanitarian specializations students. Results of the study indicated differences in the effect for using mobile text messaging on Arabic spelling among university students due to educational level, in favor of first year students compared to the remaining university levels. In light of the results, several recommendations were discussed. (Published Abstract)
