The study aimed at revealing the effectiveness of a training program in social skills to reduce the performance anxiety of the counseling trainees at Yarmouk University. The study sample consisted of (30) seniors majoring counseling psychology at Yarmouk University and enrolled in the field training psychological counseling course. They were divided randomly into two groups: The experimental group receiving the training program on social skills (n=12 trainees) and the control group. The members of which did not receive any type of program. The performance of the experimental and control groups was measured by administering the anxiety scale before and after the training program; a follow-up measure desisted for the experimental group was administered three weeks after the completion of the training program. The results of the study showed a statistically significant effect at the level of (α = 0.05) indicating that the training program was effective in reducing the level of performance anxiety in the experimental group. The results also showed the continuity of the effectiveness of the follow-up training program. The study recommended a number of recommendations. (Published Abstract)
