The present research aimed to examine the effect of using the functional approach on developing the literacy skills of the students of the educational media. The research sample consisted of 35 students of the fourth year of the educational media department at the Faculty of Education at Banha university. The research tool was a test to measure the written literacy of the prepared by the present study a research researcher. The test was applied pre-test on the research sample, then the implementation of the test and the application of the test. The findings of the study research concluded that: There were statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the students of the research group in the pre- and post- to test the skills of enlightenment in the field of writing as a whole for the post application, which indicates the effectiveness of the functional approach in the development of written literacy among education media students.
