The present study is an attempt to make new suggestions for supporting the free basic education in Egypt based on constitutional legislation. It adopted the descriptive approach and the interview. Additionally, it applied two questionnaires; one of them to a sample of professors and experts of education at the Egyptian universities and the other was applied to basic education officials and guardians in six educational directorates in Sohag. The results revealed that: 1) The participants are fully aware of the concept of free basic education according to the Egyptian constitution. 2) They are aware that free basic education in Sohag is a fake slogan under the family burden of expenses and costs of education. 3) There are statistically significant differences in the awareness and reality of the concept of free basic education in the Egyptian constitution among the participants in terms of academic qualification, favoring the educational degree. 4) There are statistically significant differences in the awareness and reality of the concept of free basic education in the Egyptian constitution among the participants in terms of nature of work, favoring the guardians. 5) There are no statistically significant differences in the awareness and reality of the concept of free basic education in the Egyptian constitution regarding the years of experience. 6) There are statistically significant differences in the awareness and reality of the concept of free basic education in terms of geographical distribution, favoring Sohag Educational Administration. The study made a proposal for supporting the free basic education in Egypt based on constitutional legislation, formulating the philosophy, premises, objectives, domains, implementation mechanics, and success requirements.
