The study aimed at revealing the effect of a group counseling program based on play therapy in reducing abnormal behavior and improving social adjustment of students in basic elementary stage. The study population consisted 203 male students from the second and third primary grades in a school of Al-Rusayfah. An abnormal behavior inventory of 30 items identifying four dimensions: aggression, violation of rules, stubbornness, and selfishness, A sample of 32 students divided randomly into two groups: experimental and control groups, whith 16 subjects in each of them, and to achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher constructed a group counseling program, and a valid and reliable abnormal behavior, and social adjustment inventories. The results showed that there were no statistically significant differences between the experimental group means in the post and follow-up abnormal behavior and social adjustment scores. The study suggested some recommendations like: the necessity of training the counselors and educatorson using and constructing programs based on playing games activities and exercises because of their role inhancing social adjustmen and reduction of abnormal behavior, setting special hours for these activities in school in physical education, and to make a culture of accepting the imprtance of games and sports activities for children, and also know how to use these exercises and activities which are suitable with their abilities.
