The purpose of this study was to examine the nature of internet use among secondary and high school students. More specifically, this study aimed to: identify how much time students spend online, and identify internet services used by secondary and high school students, and identify to what extent students have the skills needed to use the internet, and finally, identify any differences between students in using internet services. This study employed the quantitative survey method to describe the nature of internet use by middle and high school students. A questionnaire was distributed to school students at the first semester. A random sample was selected from the school population, and the sample included 1529 students, of whom 1111 were secondary school students, and 418 were high school students. Findings from this study showed that on average, students spend up three hours daily using the internet. The study also showed that high school students exceed middle-school students in may characteristics like having an e-mail, owning a PC, reading national and international papers online, using social networks, and using the internet for study purposes. The findings also showed that high school students had better internet skills than middle school students, and they ranked their skills as average. (Published abstract)
