The study aimed to identify the role of strategic planning in improving job performance in the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in the southern governorates. The researcher used the analytical descriptive approach. The data were collected and gathered from the questionnaire, and it included four dimensions, which are (organizational planning, efficiency planning, creativity planning, and job performance). The number of questionnaires retrieved and valid for statistical analysis was (138), with a ratio of (0.92). The study concluded that the role of strategic planning in improving job performance came to a large degree with a relative weight of (71.5%), and the level of job performance came to a large degree with a relative weight of (73.48%). The results showed that there is a statistically significant correlation at the level (α≤0.05) between strategic planning and job performance in the Ministry of Education in the southern governorates. Strategic and functional performance in the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in the southern governorates. The results also indicated that the dimension of strategic planning with creativity ranked first with a relative weight of (73.48%), followed by strategic planning with efficiency with a relative weight of (70.79%), and finally in the third place the level of strategic planning in the organization with a relative weight of (70.23%). The results showed that the level of job performance came to a high degree, in addition to that there were no differences between the averages of strategic planning and institutional performance, which are attributed to the following variables (gender, job title, educational qualification, years of service). The regression tests also showed that there is a covariate relationship And in the light of the study’s recommendations, the most important of which are: 1) urging the Ministry on the importance of strategic planning and working on training supervisory positions holders to practice this style as it is among the functions of modern management, 2) focusing on selecting leaders in the Ministry who have high skills and creative capabilities To assume important leadership positions, 3) Increase the interest of senior management in employees as they are the real capital of the ministry by providing a good climate in which employees feel harmony and comfort and increase their belonging.
