This study aimed at recognizing the role of Jordanian universities administrations in activating scientific research and suggestions for developing it. The study included (1296) faculty members in Yarmouk University and Jordan University of Science and Technology from those who hold the rank of assistant professor, associate professors, and professors. The sample of the study consisted of (351) members selected randomly. The questionnaire consisted of (60) items distributed into five domains. The instrument was shown to a number of referees to verify validity, whereas reliability was checked by using (test-retest) method. The data was collected and the researcher used the appropriate statistical methods and the study revealed the following results: 1) The role of Jordanian university administration from the point of view of faculty members in activating scientific research was in an intermediate level on the whole scale as well as on the following domains (the administrative and organization procedures, procedures related to the faculty members, and procedures related to the funding of scientific research), and in a low level on the domains( funding scientific researches and partnership with the private sector organizations). 2) There were statistically significant differences at the level of (α > 0.05) between faculty members points of view attributed to gender on the whole scale and domains (the administrative and organization procedures, procedures related to the faculty members, and scientific research funding). 3) There were statistically significant differences at the level of (α > 0.05) between the points of view of faculty members attributed to university variable on the domains of (procedures related to the faculty members, procedures related to scientific research funding) There were no statistically significant differences at the level of (α > 0.05) between the points of view of faculty members attributed to experience on the whole scale and all study domains. 4) There were statistically significant differences at the level of (α > 0.05) between the points of view of faculty members attributed to academic rank on the whole scale and domains (the administrative and organization procedures, procedures related to the faculty members, partnership with the private sector organizations ) . The study proposed a number of recommendations and the most important of which was: using the modern administration systems and techniques in the administration of scientific research, and providing an integrated structure for research work.
