A1 حميد الدين، رضية محمد AB The study aimed to identify the role of general self-efficacy as a mediating variable in the relationship between academic buoyancy and mastery motivation among a sample of Saudi university students, in addition to identifying the differences in general self-efficacy, academic buoyancy and mastery motivation according to gender and specialization. The study sample consisted of (471) male and female Saudi university students. they completed the General Self-Efficacy Expectations Scale (Jerusalem & Schwarzer.1995). translated by (Bouqsara & Ziad, 2015), the academic buoyancy scale (Saleem, 2018) and the mastery motivation scale (Ahmed, 2014). Results showed that there is a high level of general self-efficacy, academic buoyancy, and mastery motivation among the study sample; general self-efficacy has a mediator role in the relation between academic buoyancy and mastery motivation. There are significant differences between males and females in general self-efficacy, academic buoyancy. and mastery motivation in favor of males. There are statistically significant differences in general self-efficacy and mastery motivation according to specialization in favor of theoretical specialization. In the light of the study results, a number of recommendations were made. including designing counseling and training programs to develop a sense of general self-efficacy and learning academic buoyancy skills among university students. especially male and female students in scientific majors.
