A1 عبد الغفار، هشام عبده عبد العزيز AB استهدفت الدراسة التعرف على اتجاهات الطلاب نحو دراسة الرياضيات والإحصاء باللغة الإنجليزية لدى لدى طلاب السنة الأولى المشتركة بجامعة الملك سعود، وذلك من خلال دراسة نتيجة استبيان لعينة من الطلاب والطالبات بعمادة السنة الأولى المشتركة. تم استخدام المنهج الوصفي بأسلوب المسح بالعينة على (1320) من الطلاب والطالبات بطريقة العينة العشوائية البسيطة. توصلت الدراسة إلى تأكيد وجود علاقة طردية بين اللغة التي يتم التدريس بها، ومدى الاستيعاب والفهم لدى الطلاب. كذلك أظهرت الدراسة أن ميل الطلاب نحو دراسة الرياضيات والإحصاء بمقررات السنة الأولى المشتركة، جامعة الملك سعود باللغة العربية، وذلك بسبب دراستهم السابقة - في المرحلة الثانوية - كانت باللغة العربية. كما أن كثير من الطلاب والطالبات لا يؤهلهم مستواهم في اللغة الإنجليزية إلى دراسة الرياضيات والإحصاء باللغة الإنجليزية. كما اظهرت النتائج دور تعلم اللغة الإنجليزية في فهم وتحصيل ودراسة مقررات الرياضيات والإحصاء بعمادة السنة الأولى المشتركة جامعة الملك سعود. جاءت نتيجة المحور الأول من الاستبيان؛ أهمية دراسة الرياضيات والإحصاء باللغة الإنجليزية بالنسبة للطلاب، بمتوسط حسابي قدرة (3.17)، وانحراف معياري قدرة (0.498)، وهذا يدل على اتجاه محايد بالنسبة لأهمية دراسة تلك المقررات باللغة الانجليزية. في حين جاءت نتيجة المحور الثاني من الاستبيان؛ استمتاع الطلاب بدرسة الرياضيات والإحصاء باللغة الإنجليزية، بمتوسط حسابي قدره (3.12) وانحراف معياري قدره (0.437) ودل ذلك أيضا على اتجاه محايد من الموافقة على أن الطالب يستمتع بدراسة المقررات الرياضيات والإحصاء باللغة الإنجليزية. في حين جاءت نتيجة المحور الثالث والأخير من الاستبيان؛ إيجابية الطلاب نحو دراسة الرياضيات والإحصاء باللغة الإنجليزية، بمتوسط حسابي قدره (3.20)، وانحراف معياري قدره ( 0.553) وهو اتجاه محايد بالنسبة لرأي الطلاب نحو إيجابية التدريس باللغة الإنجليزية. وجاءت نتيجة محاور الاستبيان ككل بمتوسط حسابي قدره (3، 3، 16)، وانحراف معياري قدره (0.391)، ويدل ذلك على اتجاه محايد من الرضا والموافقة، ويعزى ذلك إلى اختلاف نوعية الطلاب ودراستهم السابقة في المرحلة الثانوية، حيث تم دراسة معظمهم بالمرحلة السابقة باللغة العربية، كما أن كثير من الطلاب مستوياتهم ليست جيده في اللغة الإنجليزية. كما أظهرت الدراسة عدم وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية في موقف عينة الدراسة حول اتجاهات الطلاب نحو تدريس مقررات الرياضيات والإحصاء باللغة الإنجليزية لدى الطلاب، تعزى لمتغير الجنس (طلاب وطالبات)، بينما لا توجد فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية تعزى لمتغير المقرر (الرياضيات - الإحصاء). كما أكدت نتائج الدراسة أن اتجاهات الطلاب نحو الدراسة باللغة الإنجليزية يساهم في مواكبة التطور العلمي لدى الطلاب الجامعيين من خلال ما يقدمه من دراسة أسباب ومعوقات الدراسة باللغة الإنجليزية تمكنه من فهم ذاته وادراك محيطه الجامعي الجديد، وتكيف الطالب مع الدراسة باللغة الإنجليزية. The study aimed to identify student attitudes towards studying mathematics and statistics in English among joint first-year students at King Saud University, by studying the results of a questionnaire for a sample of male and female students at the joint first-year deanship. The descriptive approach was used in the form of a sample survey on (1320) male and female students using a simple random sampling method. The study concluded that there is a direct relationship between the language in which it is taught and the extent of comprehension and understanding among students. The study also showed that students tend towards teaching mathematics and statistics - in the common first-year courses at King Saud University - in the Arabic language, due to their previous studies - in the secondary stage. It was in Arabic, and many males and female students also do not have a level of English that qualifies them to study mathematics and statistics in English. The results also showed the role of learning the English language in understanding, collecting, and studying mathematics and statistics courses at the Joint First Year Deanship, King Saud University, where the result of the first axis of the questionnaire, which is (the importance of studying mathematics and statistics in the English language for students), came with an arithmetic mean of (3.17) and a standard deviation. The ability of (0.498) indicates a neutral trend regarding the importance of studying these courses in the English language, while the result of the second axis of the questionnaire, which is (students’ enjoyment of studying mathematics and statistics in the English language), came with an arithmetic mean of (3.12) and a standard deviation of (0.437) and d. This also has a neutral trend of agreeing that the student enjoys studying the courses - mathematics and statistics - in the English language, while the result of the third and final axis of the questionnaire, which is (students’ positivity towards studying mathematics and statistics in the English language), came with an arithmetic mean of (3.20) and a standard deviation of (0.553), which is a neutral trend with regard to the students’ opinion towards the positivity of teaching in the English language. The results of the questionnaire axes as a whole came with an arithmetic mean of (3.3.16) and a standard deviation of (0.391). This indicates a neutral trend of satisfaction and approval, and this is attributed to the difference in quality. Students and their previous studies in the secondary stage, as most of them studied in the previous stage in Arabic, and many of the students are not good in the English language. The study also showed that there are no statistically significant differences in the position of the study sample regarding students’ attitudes towards teaching mathematics and statistics courses in the English language among students, due to the gender variable (male and female students), while there are no statistically significant differences due to the course variable (mathematics - statistics). The results of the study confirmed that students’ attitudes towards studying in the English language contribute to keeping pace with the scientific development of university students through the study of the reasons and obstacles to studying in the English language that enables them to understand themselves and their new university environment, and for the student to adapt to studying in the English language.
