A1 أبو الهيجاء، يونس A2 محاميد، حاتم AB This study deals with the educational standards in preparing teachers in the Islamic education in the medieval era. It aims to identify the certificates and qualifications of teachers, and the competencies that should be met. The study also clarifies that the teacher is not only a stockiest of sciences and knowledge rather than is considered a model and leadership figure influencing the hearts of learners, their manners, and scientific and cognitive skills. Therefore, the issue of teacher preparation, qualification and training has received great attention in Islamic educational thought. This study also indicates that practicing the teaching profession, according to educational scholars and ‘ulama, requires that the learner be qualified for this position until obtaining the necessary academic certificates. Muslim scholars and thinkers have emphasized that building and consolidating the outcome of knowledge for the student is by meeting scholars and getting acquainted with their methods of teaching and increase their knowledge, by travelling to them and accompany them. Moreover, the study also shows the role of women as teachers in Islam in transmitting and narrating hadith, learning and obtaining certificates in the Middle ages. In addition, the study reveals the educational competencies and standards that were considered as guidelines in the process of preparing and qualifying teachers, including: The religious, moral, scientific, professional, physical, and apparent characteristics.
