A1 الزهراني، عبد الله أحمد سالم AB This research aimed to build student leadership programs to develop some values among Umm Al-Qura University students in light of contemporary global trends (proposed model). The most prominent experiences of international universities in the strategy of building student leadership programs were also discussed. The descriptive method was used to expose the reality of the content of the programs and activities offered by Umm Al-Qura University in this regard. A questionnaire was designed for this purpose and was applied on a sample of undergraduates in the academic year 1439AH (2018AD) including 245 students. The data was analyzed by using SPSS program through arithmetic averages, standard deviations, T-TEST and ANOVA. Then, a proposed model was built for the study. The key findings of the research show that the role of the student programs and activities was of an average degree. The average of means for all pivots was 2.85, with a mean of 3.02 for the ‘community participation’, 2.92 for ‘fostering national affiliation’ and 2.62 for ‘responsibility toward homeland’. There were no statistically significant differences between the responses of the study sample according to the variables of specialization, gender and study level. Based on the above, the researcher introduced the proposed model for building student leadership programs that support values of citizenship and national affiliation according to four levels: the ‘Entry Level Leadership Program’, ‘Second Level Leadership Program’, ‘Senior Level Leadership Program’ and ‘Pioneer Level Leadership Program." The study recommended the senior management at Umm Al-Qura University and the other universities to adopt and implement this model and to create a department for student leadership under the umbrella of the Deanship of Student Affairs, to be administratively linked to the organizational structure of the Deanship, designating its tasks and roles to achieve the national conduct values introduced by the study. The study also recommended the incorporation of educational content in the four levels of the model to help students adhere to societal norms.
