A1 عمري، عاشور أحمد AB The current study seeks to monitor and evaluate the media role of the General Authority for Adult Education in mobilizing public opinion to combat illiteracy, Then a proposed conception was developed to maximize this role, and in order to achieve this, the study relied on the "descriptive approach" with its various tools, such as "analysis": which is suitable for analyzing the literature and related previous studies, in addition to the "focus groups method" with adult scholars in Literacy classes, and an "interview form", with field and academic experts; To monitor the status quo of the media efforts of the Public Authority for Adult Education in mobilizing public opinion to combat illiteracy, which include: “media convoys, radio and television, the press, publications and posters, seminars and conferences”, to put forward a proposed vision to strengthen this role, in order to mobilize public opinion and society to combat illiteracy. The study reached a set of results, the most prominent of which are: 1) The weakness of the general budget of the authority, and hence the difficulty of financing the media activities related to awareness and mobilization to confront illiteracy. 2) The lack of qualified and trained human cadres in the field of public relations and media at the authority. 3) Lack of advance planning for media activities, and thus their inability to achieve their goals as hoped. 4) Monitor many of the challenges facing the implementation of the authority’s media activities in mobilizing public opinion to combat illiteracy. 5) Putting forth a proposed vision to activate the media role in the authority in mobilizing public opinion to combat illiteracy.
