A1 كوسة، سوسن عبد الحميد AB This study aimed to find out the effect of using the roundhouse diagram strategy in teaching mathematics on the academic achievement and the development of contemplative thinking among the fifth female graders. The study sample consisted of (56) students in one of the primary schools in Makkah, divided into two equal groups. The first group which is the experimental studied the unit of measurement (periphery, area and size) according to the roundhouse diagram strategy. The second group which is the control one studied the same unit in the regular method. Two study instruments were applied; the achievement test and the test of contemplative thinking skills both before and after on the two groups. After the data collection and analysis, the following results were obtained: there were statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the study sample in the achievement test and the test of contemplative thinking skills for the favor of the experimental group. The study recommended the importance of using the roundhouse diagram strategy in teaching mathematics and holding training courses for teachers in general and for mathematics teachers in particular to familiarize them with the diagram of the roundhouse and the skills of contemplative thinking and how to employ them in teaching.
