A1 العنبكي، قحطان عدنان حسين AB This study aims at investigating intermediate stage students' spelling mistakes and their relation with grammatical mistakes and remedy suggestions. To achieve the aims of the study, the researcher prepared his hypothesis. The sample of the study consisted of 120 students: 60 males and 60 females. The pilot sample consisted of 60 male and female students. The researcher prepared a dictation text and dictated the students to investigate the relation between the spelling mistakes and grammatical mistakes. The text was comprehensive and cohesive, with clear vocabulary and simple style. The text was forwarded to experts in Arabic language and methods of teaching to investigate its validity as well as the validity of the test. The researcher used the retesting method on the main sample of the study for the reliability of the test. The researcher also prepared a questionnaire consisted of 20 items of suggestions distributed on teaching supervisors to remedy the spelling and grammatical mistakes of the intermediate stage. The researcher used the following statistical devices: Pearson correlation coefficient, weighted mean and weight percentage. The results of the study revealed that there are statistically significant variations in the spelling mistakes of two cases: replacing the (ya) with (kasra) and disconnected middle glottal stop. The relation between spelling and printing mistakes was strong and frequent. The researcher also proposed certain suggestions and recommendations.
