A1 السيد، يسري مصطفى AB This study aimed at devising a list of computer and information technology literacy standards to be utilized in identifying how far the content of computer and information technology books at the pre university education in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Kuwait meet these standards. The study also aimed at submitting a proposal of a computer and information technology educational unit for the seventh grade according to these standards. An intentional sample of content analysis that included 48 computer and information technology books at the primary, intermediate, and high school stages in the previously mentioned four countries during the academic year, 2014/ 2015 was selected. Results of the study submitted a seven fields list of computer and information technology literacy including fourteen standards with different and varied indicators for each standard. Results also indicated that none of the computer and information technology literacy standards has been 100 % achieved in any of the grades from 1-3 , 4-6 , 7-9 or 10 to 12 in Egypt, Bahrain, Kuwait, or Saudi Arabia. The ratio of how far the content of computer and information technology books met the literacy standards did not reach the minimum level of 75 %. After comparing, analyzing, and interpreting the content of computer books at the pre university education in these four countries, a proposal of a computer and information technology educational unit for the seventh grade was suggested according to these standards.
