A1 موسى، عقيلي محمد محمد أحمد AB The present study aimed at investigating the effect of using a suggested program in Arabic based in the light of the recent reading challenges and its effect on improving first year secondary school students' linguistic and environmental enlightment. Seventy male and female first year secondary school students from Alkhaja Secondary School for Males and Alkharja Secondary School for Girls constituted the sample of the study. The sample was divided into two groups: A control group and an experimental one. The control group was taught the Arabic course through the traditional method of teaching whereas the experimental one was taught that course in the light of the recent reading challenges. The tools of the study were: An Enlightment Reading Test, and an Enlightment Environmental Scale. The results of the study showed that using suggested program had a generally positive effect on both students' linguistic and environmental enlightment and their domains.. It was also found that there was a significant correlation between the students' linguistic domains and their environmental enlightment domains.
