A1 أمزيان، محمد AB The study attempted to investigate the relationship between parents’ attitudes towards the quality of school life and the academic performance of third-year middle school students. The study aimed first to assess parents’ attitudes towards the quality of school life in both institutions, public and private, by assessing the relationship between family and school, relations between teachers and students, evaluation of school or extracurricular activities and teaching methods. Secondly, it aimed to measure the impact of the quality of school life on student achievement in both mathematics and French. In order to evaluate the parents’ attitudes towards the quality of school life, the researcher have developed a questionnaire addressed to the parents of the students of both schools. Regarding academic performances, general averages in mathematics and French were used. The results of the study showed the impact of the quality of school life on student performance, since students in private schools, whose parents have positive attitudes towards school and its resources, teacher relationships with their pupils, school activities and teaching methods, had more satisfactory results than their counterparts whose parents have negative attitudes. The study also showed significant differences in performance to the benefit of private school students in both mathematics and French. Based on its findings, the study recommended further studies on different age groups as well as samples that are more representative.
