A1 بودي، زكي بن عبد العزيز AB The present study aimed at measuring the effectiveness of the use of Form (V) maps on the development of academic achievement of students of material on the course of General Teaching Methods, Faculty of Education King Faisal University. In this study, the researcher used a semi-experimental design approach that does not require random selection and specification. External variables were not controlled in accordance with other experimental designs. Two groups were involved. One was a control group and the other was experimental. Therefore, the current study was limited to the male students of the Faculty of Education who were studying General Methods of Teaching during the second semester of the academic year 1430-1431.A sample of the study consisting of (83) students were selected randomly from the research community and divided into two groups, one of them included (34) students as group (1) which was the control group, and the other included (49) students as group (3) representing the experimental group. After that, students from other study groups (2, 4 & 5) which formed total of (140) students. Five topics were selected from seven lectures during the construction of seven maps of Form (V). After each lecture, the researcher tested the experimental group and control group (intra-test), and deferred a final test on the topics of the syllabus for the control and experimental groups and compared their results. The researcher used the computer to enter the data and then work the statistical analysis through the use of the program (SPSS). The statistical processes used were the arithmetic mean, standard deviation, discrimination, analysis of variance, coefficient of ease and difficulty, and the value of T for significant differences. The study proved that students who were users of Form (V) maps were more knowledgeable and receptive with regard to the course (General Teaching Methods) compared to their peers who studied in the usual way since this method was effective in broadening the scope of the student and developing his ability to think, innovate and increase motivation through education employed in the use of Form (V) maps. The study showed that students acquire the personal and social skills through university work in the learning process, as well as being made able to link learning activities to the information provided to them in the course. The study also showed that students who studied using Form (V) maps in the auditorium were more interactive during the learning processes, and were more active and showed low levels of anxiety and stress compared to their colleagues who studied in the traditional manner. In the light of the current study, the researcher recommends teaching the use of Form (V) maps in theoretical subjects like the General Teaching Methods, and that this should not be limited to scientific and applied subjects only. The current study agrees with many studies and contemporary scientific research which advocate that the student should be the focus of the educational process and should have an effective role in the learning process.
