A1 الوادعي، مسفر أحمد مسفر AB The study aimed at identifying the role of Islamic awareness activities in strengthening the culture of voluntary work among secondary school students in Saudi Arabia from Islamic education teachers' perspectives. A sample of (120) Islamic education teachers from Abha and Khamis Mushait cities were selected in a stratified random manner. A 20 item valid and reliable questionnaire devised by the researcher was utilized in data collection. The results of the study revealed that Islamic awareness activities in high school aimed at developing the student awareness towards civic and social responsibility and that they permitted students to participate in national events and celebrations, as they provided them with positive trends towards voluntary work, while urging them to take advantage of their free time and investing it in volunteer work. Results also showed that Islamic awareness activities promoted the students’ social and leadership skills that served voluntary works through training sessions and the like. Alternatively, the results of this study proved lack of interest of those who were in charge of Islamic awareness activities and programs in organizing visits to both care centers of people with special community needs in order to provide them with assistance as well as hospitals and health centers. There was also a lack of interest in participating in blood donation campaigns and charitable committees to aid and rescue afflicted and affected peoples of neighboring countries. In light of these findings, recommendations and suggestions for further research were presented.
