A1 عسكر، نجم عبد الله A2 البكري، سامر عوني رزوقي AB This paper involves four sections, wherever the researchers in the first section cover the introduction, the research significance in recognizing the students' levels and their expressive capacities in the art of drawing by utilizing the semiotic analysis. The statement of the research problem is included in first section as well, which concerns the idea of categorizing the students' abilities in expressing that gesture as one of the constitutional relationships in order to show both weaknesses and strengths in teaching the subject of pictorial composition. Second section includes the theoretical framework which contains subject matters about semiotics, the semiotic analysis and the art of drawing, in addition to that, the researchers approach the definitions of basic terms and some previous studies about analyzing some artistic works. Third section deals with the research methodology, wherein the researchers adopt a descriptive analytical method in which the research population is composed of 3rd grade students in the department of art education of Fine Arts College of Diyala University for the academic year of 2014-2015 and they were 37 male and female students. The sample of this paper is constituted by (15) male and female students which represents 41% of surveyed population. The research instrument is included in third section too, and this tool consists of certain analytic form of students' drawings according to Roman Jakobson's propositions in semiotic analysis and validity and reliability of research tools. Fourth Section demonstrated the results and summed up with the concluding remarks and recommendations which the researchers have ultimately reached at.
