A1 شلش، باسم محمد أحمد AB The objective of this study was to investigate the attitudes of the basic stage students towards learning general mathematics in the faculty of educational sciences at Al-Quds Open University. Moreover, the study aimed to explore the effect of gender, general academic secondary branch and the students' average score in the secondary school on their attitudes. To achieve the study objectives, the descriptive approach was used. The sample of the study consisted of 184 male and female students chosen randomly using the stratified method. A 32-item questionnaire was distributed to the sample so as to measure their attitudes towards general mathematics learning. The means, standard deviations, t-test for independent variables and ANOVA were used to find out the results. The results showed that the students' attitudes towards general mathematics learning were neutral and there were significant differences, due to gender for the benefit of females. The results also revealed that there were significant differences, due to the secondary school branch variable for the benefit of literary branch, while there were no significant differences due to the student average score in the secondary school. The researcher recommended the necessity of promoting basic stage students' interests in mathematics at QOU and conducting evaluation of the course content.
