A1 العمارنة، عماد فاروق محمد. AB The study aims at investigating the availability of the critical thinking skills in the Arabic syntax of 7th grade students (called first intermediate KSA). To this conclusion, the researcher has given nine critical thinking skills to a validating committee. Four of these were selected because of their appropriateness for the first intermediate class and their availability in the syntax material. These are: Deciding on priorities, sequence, explanation and deduction. Then, the researcher designed a test that measures their availability at least six items for each skill. Then the study conducted the test on a sample of 298 students. The findings revealed a weakness in the skills for the members of the sample. The mean score of the skill of deciding on the priorities is (29.16), the sequence skill (25. 66), explanation (21.66) and deduction (27.83). The mean score of all skills is (26.06). These means show clear weakness in the availability of these skills among the sample of the study. The study recommended reconsidering the content of the book “Loghati Al-Khaledah” which means My Everlasting Language for the first intermediate so that it contains structures and syntactic exercises that are meant to develop critical thinking, as well to holding training sessions for female and male teachers to inform them of critical thinking in Arabic syntax and its positive consequences on the teaching process.
