AB This study aimed to specify the distribution of the van Hiele levels of geometrical thought in regular and open education in the faculty of Education at Damascus University. A random sample of (158) fourth - year student of class teachers in both (regular education and open education) was chosen (from both genders). The researcher used (the van Hiele Geometrical Thought Test) (with α = 0.82) in the Syrian environment. The results showed that there are distributions of van Hiele levels of geometrical thought at student of class teachers in both regular and open education. The results showed that there was a significant mean- score difference between regular and open education in favor of open education on the van Hiele test of geometrical thought. In addition, the results showed that there was a significant mean- score difference between the Syrian student teachers and the (UNRWA) students of class teachers at open education, in favor of the (UNRWA) student teachers on the van Hiele test of geometrical thought. The results showed that there was no significant mean- score difference between the regular Syrian student teachers and the open education student teachers. Also, the results showed that there was no significant mean- score difference between males and females at the whole level and at both regular and open education.
