AB This study aimed to investigate the effect of the active learning strategies in reading comprehension and attitude toward reading for students of the elementary fourth grade in Jordan. The sample of study were divided into two groups to represent the experimental group and the control group respectively. The number of students was (68) students from the elementary fourth-grade students from primary schools in the Directorate of Education, the District of Bani Kenana, Irbid Governorate. To achieve the objective of the study, a test was designed consisting of (28) questions, and attitude scale toward reading was designed consisting of (15) Items. The results showed the existence of significant differences in Reading Comprehension between the two groups due to the effectiveness of active learning strategies, and significant differences in attitude toward reading, due to the effectiveness of active learning strategies. In light of the results the researcher recommended the need to employ active learning strategies in teaching reading in the Arabic language for fourth grade students.
